Directions to Fremont High School

The race started in 1973 as the "Old Fashioned Days 8 Miler". The race was around Fremont Lake and was staged from the Middle School. The race changed to a 5 and 10k in the early '80s and moved to the High School for staging. Chris Cook was a well liked member of the cross country team. He graduated in 1983 and was scheduled to start school at Grand Valley College that fall. Chris went on a group outing with the University of Michigan to Colorado that summer. While in the moutains Chris had a fall and sustained a severe head injury which caused his death. The race was named in memorial of Chris in 1984. The race changed to a 5 and 10k by 1986 and moved to the High School for staging.

** New age group records - 5k - Girls 10 and Under Calla Miller, Boys - 10 and Under Nathan Walker.
If you earned an award and did not stay for awards you can pick it up at Tru-Fit shoe store across from the High School in Fremont.
